Ms. Syarifah Nuraida is a highly accomplished urban, rural, and regional planning professional with over 20 years of experience at PLANMalaysia. Throughout her distinguished career, she has achieved significant milestones, including receiving the Excellent Service Award and national and international recognition for excellence in planning practices. Notably, Ms. Nuraida played a pivotal role in preparing the National Rural Physical Planning Policy, which garnered acclaim at the MIP Planning Excellence Awards in 2016. Her expertise also extended to the East Coast Rail Line Integrated Land Use Master Plan Study (PeGTaECRL), honored with the Merit Award at the ISOCARP 2022 World Planning Congress in Brussels, Belgium. In 2021, her exceptional project management skills were recognized with the Best Project Manager award for the Identification Study of Development Areas, mandated by the Town and Country Planning Act (Act 172). As the Chief of the Smart City Planning Centre at PLANMalaysia in 2024, Ms. Nuraida has been a key figure in promoting Malaysia's 'Smart City Agenda Towards a Smart Nation 2040'. She has delivered presentations and announcements to various national and international agencies, including those in Singapore, China, Korea, Japan, and the USA. Her efforts aim to guide Malaysian Local Authorities in achieving Smart City Recognition criteria and to elevate Malaysia's standing as a smart nation globally by 2040. Currently, Ms. Nuraida's international achievements include being invited as a 'Hosted Guest' at the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) 2024 in Hangzhou, China. There, she will deliver a briefing and serve as a panellist on 'Public Governance and Livelihood Scenarios: Shaping Harmonious and Prosperous Urban Development'. During this event, she also assisted the Director General of Town and Country Planning in preparing successful papers and interviews for the 'Region Smart City Awards 2024: Leadership Categories - Expert by Tomorrow City, Fira Barcelona'.
