Mohd Redzuan Affandi Abdul Rahim
Director, Digital Services, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC)
Mohd Redzuan Affandi Abdul Rahim (Redzuan) is currently the Director of Digital Services Department with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). His key responsibility is to drive and facilitate adoption of digital technologies and digital solutions by the traditional businesses. He is also overseeing the development of Sharing Economy models in Malaysia, addressing key enablers which includes policy and regulations, standards development, and governance. On the governance part, he leads the Secretariat of the Sharing Economy Committee, a newly established, national-level governance structure involving multiple ministries and agencies to address challenges and opportunities relating to the Sharing Economy.
His experience includes designing and development of the eRezeki programme, the programme that provides the foundation and catalysed the gig economy development in Malaysia. Via the Global Online Workforce (GLOW) programme, he worked to nurture ‘service-based digital entrepreneurs’, promoting the notion of ‘high-value gig’ as a self-employment model. He is involved in few coordination committees on MSME digitalization in Malaysia and is currently the Vice Chairman for the Technical Committee (TC/3/9) on Sharing Economy in Malaysia. He also represents Malaysia at the global ISO/TC 324 Committee on Sharing Economy.
Redzuan holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Information System from the University of Salford, United Kingdom, and he is also ITIL certified. He has been active with professional bodies and is a member of the Internet Society since 2002 and was involved in formalizing the Internet Society – Malaysia Chapter where he became the Vice President (2019 – 2020). He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and previously served as an Executive Committee and Secretary of the IEEE Computer Society – Malaysia Chapter.
